Investigating Myself and Correcting My Mistakes

To Err is Human. To Correct Errors is Divine

I make more mistakes than I would like to. I’ve long since come to understand that mistakes are an unavoidable part of the job. Whether they’re due to a fundamental misunderstanding of an issue, a careless error, or simply from moving to fast as I juggle all the responsibilities of research, editing, video production and marketing on a nonexistent budget, I have been unwittingly guilty of spreading misinformation more than a few times.

This is why it’s every public-facing communicator’s duty to correct errors as they find out about them. I will always post corrections in the descriptions of my videos and in pinned comments when they come to my attention, but it’s not incredibly common for my viewers to actually read those. So this week I’ve drilled down on the 11 worst mistakes that I’ve caught myself in over the last year.

The corrections appear in my videos about Wim Hof, Andrew Huberman, Ashley Black, Dr. Mike, David Sinclair and Matt Kaeberlein as well as more general videos on biological science.

These are the videos that I address specifically in this update (some videos have more than one correction):

  1. The Unsettling Truth about Human Consciousness | The Split Brain experiment that broke neuroscience

  2. Uncovering Corruption From Spiritual Leaders & Health Experts | Scott Carney

  3. Andrew Huberman is Lying to You

  4. The True Story of Ashley Black's $175 Million Fasciablaster Anti-Cellulite Scam

  5. Will I go to jail for my cat?

  6. The True Story of David Sinclair's Longevity Lie

  7. Matt Kaeberlein reflects on "David Sinclair’s Longevity Lie"

  8. The Rise and Fall of the Wim Hof Empire

It’s still pretty likely that there are more mistakes hidden in my back catalogue. I can’t tell you how appreciative I am of all my readers and viewers who have ferreted out my errors so I have an opportunity to correct the record. It really means the world to me.
